I got the name blue plate from "blue plate special" and only heard the Blue Plate restaurant in San Francisco later, from you and your blog, actually. But now that I know, I feel I should visit my namesake, in a manner of speaking, if I ever find myself in San Franciso again.
Btw, there's also a Table d'Hôte restaurant; it's in New York City.
