Teenage Coffee Drinking

Here's an article from The Washington Post that I found interesting—The New Soda Fountain of Youth. It says that coffee houses are the new teen and preteen hang-out. What happen meeting at the (shopping) mall and raiding the food court for Orange Julius and Hot dog on a Stick? Is that no longer cool?
